Not quite take out

Drew got home from India at 4:30am on Saturday.  I woke up at 3:30, showered & made him breakfast tacos 🙂



I made us not *quite* take out beef fried rice.  This was good, but not as fantastic as GOOD fried rice



First I marinated flank steak in: 

  • 1 cup soy sause
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 TB rice wine vinegar
  • 2 TB siracha
  • 1 TB chili flakes
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

I grilled the steak after it had marinated for 24 hrs.


For the rice:

  • 2 c. white rice
  • frozen veg
  • 1 TB chopped garlic
  • 3 TB butter
  • 1/2 chopped onion
  • 2 eggs scrambled with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • soy sauce

It’s important to have all ingredients ready because things go fast now.  First sautee the veg/butter/onion/garlic till veggies are cooked.  Then push the veg over and scramble the eggs in the corner of the pan.



Then add the rice, beef and soy sauce to the mix



I suppose it is healthier than take out just because it doesn’t have MSG in it.  🙂

The weather here has been GLORIOUS!!!! Highs of 72-74.  It the morning it’s about 50.  LOVE it! Mack has been going on really long walks lately because of it…at least a mile which is really good for him! I cant wait for it to get even colder 🙂
